To All the Boys: PS I Still Love You

Let me start with saying that the first movie, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, is one of the best romance movies Netflix has to offer. To All the Boys I've Loved Before is not the same as The Apartment, but is a great movie that reflects Gen Z. That being said, the second movie, what I watched, was just okay. If you really liked the first and watched it recently you would love this sequel. And though I really did LOVE the first one, I watched it years ago. Looking at this sequel now, it's just okay. PS I Still Love You takes place after Lara Jean and Peter have been together for a couple months now, and though they are perfectly happy, things seem to keep getting in the way. It doesn't make anything better now that Lara's old crush, John Ambrose, and now back in the picture either. I feel as if this movie was as much fan service as it was blazingly obvious it was a sequel. There was not much movement or character development on either relationships part. John Ambrose's character was not built very well either in my opinion and lacked depth. The only parts of his personality that we ever really are privy to is that of his love for Lara Jean.

Don't get me wrong, I still liked the movie, but the first one was definitely 100 times better. Direction and cinematography-wise the first just blows it out of the park. I also just found this out, XO Kitty (Netflix series) and To All the Boys I've Loved are in the same universe, it just clicked. I rate this movie a 6.8/10.
