BlacKkKlansman
This movie was absolutely phenomenal!!! It was witty, fun, charming, and everything you want in a film. At times it presented itself as a serious biopic, but was able to present itself as a comedy as well. BlacKkKlansman is a movie on a true story about the life of Ron Stallworth, the first Black cop in Colorado Springs. In the face of adversity, he takes on a case, to infiltrate the KKK with his partner. He ends up not only infiltrating them, but taking a Polaroid with the members and grand wizard. I love how this film is both funny, but thought provoking. It makes you draw connections between back then and today, are we really that different? What has changed since back then? Does history really repeat itself?
The movie itself was very nicely shot movie, I have no complaints about any coloring or camera work because I honesty don't there isn't anything special or groundbreaking about it. One thing I did think was cool was that shot at the end (shown above) where it sort of looks like some kind of dolly zoom. I really think that message of Black power was really powerful, but at the same time it showed the odd limbo of "white power" where you could experience both sides thoughts and reasoning behind their action. The montage of real footage at the end was extremely powerful, in the sense that it connected back to the real world. My inner AP Lang self felt oddly satisfied when the director connected it back to real world. I rate it a 8/10!
