The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad

This movie was one of the funniest slapstick-esque comedies I have seen in a while! Everything was very well paced, considering there was not one serious scene throughout the movie. I personally don't care much for these kinds of movies, but can appreciate that it does cater to a particular audience very well. I have a feeling that audience is specifically American males (according to a large portion of family members), but hey, nothing wrong with having "that movie" for a group of people. Naked Gun has this old movie feel, and yes, I know its an older movie. This movie has that kind of "dumb" comedy that you don't see in the comedies released today. It follows the escapades of police officer Frank Drebin, as he tries to uncover the mystery of his partners near death. In the process, it turns out to be a much deeper than he expected. Turns out, one of the most respected people in LA is trying to assassinate Queen Elizabeth during her trip to the US. It is always a nice time to watch a good comedy with that feel. There's a reason why this movie is up there with Home Alone, Nutty Professor, Dumb and Dumber, as the classic "What? You haven't seen it?".

Although it isn't up there in my favorites, I acknowledge that it is a good movie. Maybe a bit of a nostalgia movie for those who praise it, but a good film nonetheless. I rate it a 7/10.

  1. It's even weirder that it is a spin-off of a television show...
