Birdman - The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance

It has been half an hour and I am still presently mulling over this movie. Birdman is such a personal and introspective look into the life of not just actors, but for everyone reaching for something. How desperate he is to reach his goal was both heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. At times I would take a step back and think, "wow, he probably isn't the only one thats like this. There are actual people who can relate to this," and I think to make a viewer take a step back and debate over this, is a feat in of itself. This was a great movie that truly showcases the reality of it all--- just the right amount of love, crazy, and anger to leave you on the edge of your seat.

Birdman is a story about an actor desperately trying to pull his stagnant career as an actor back together. Riggan places all bets on his new broadway show, What We Talk About, When We Talk About Love, and experiences loads of obstacles, both in the show and his life.

I think that the moral of this story is very interesting, as there isn't really a lesson to be learned, because what he did actually worked in his favor. I think rather than a moral, the point was to spread awareness that everyone in the world is looking for their "big break"-- to be more than what they are now.  Riggan's imagination was a manifestation of his hopes and dreams, an escape at most. The end of the movie I would like to interpret it as not as him jumping out the window and committing suicide, but as another one of his daydreams. Him jumping out the window was more metaphorical, like a release from his burdens of sorts. I do believe he should get some kind of therapy though, honestly. I rate this movie a 9.5/10!
