Days of Being Wild
I reaaaally liked the cinematography of this movie, its one of my favorites yet. One thing that I like about WKW movies is that he will use a lot of diversity of cultures in his films, which I love. Days of Being Wild is about a man who is on the search for his lost family, meanwhile also has a tendency to break hearts, a lot of them. There's a short separate plot line that follows one of his exes and the local policeman, but in true WKW fashion, does not fruit a relationship. Apart from cinematography, after the past couple of weeks watching his movies, its safe to say I have grown tired of this repeating storyline, when I say repeating I mean REPEATING.
I personally saw no wow factor for this movie, but then again it could just be my own prejudice. As a standalone movie, its an okay movie--- its hard to give a ton of comments on something that seems like a carbon copy of the others. My biggest critique though is just the lack of difference and creativity for these characters. At first, the sad love story and the pathetic lover was cute, unique, great even, but seeing it for the past 5 weeks really makes it less of a novelty and more of a bore. My personal rating is a 5/10, but as a standalone, a 6.7/10.
It's funny because we watched the movies in different orders. Days of Being Wild was the first one to sell me after In the Mood for Love. But if this was the last one I watched, it might have been a completely different experience.
