Get Out

Recently this year I have been trying to dip my toes into more heavier topics movie-wise, and I absolutely LOVED this movie when I watched it with my sister. It follows Chris and his visit to his girlfriends house to meet her parents. From the get  go, you're kind of thrust into this unease and confusion as someone is kidnapped all of a sudden and thrown in the back of a car. To be honest I was so confused as to what was going on but once I figured out that the guy who was kidnapped was the same guy who was an odd ball--- things started clicking. The whole guise of being brainwashed by someone to be sold is absolutely INSANE. I loved how they keep this tension and unease through the movie and you're left talking to yourself and the people around you like, "Run!!" or "That is so odd..". I feel like a majority of the unease came from the smiles and odd behavior from the black characters who upkeep the house. I actually like how it wasn't a particularly scary movie-- but more like you feel it from the start. Its the kind of plot where whenever you start getting an inkling of what's going on you go, "no way.." and your heart drops, your smile just falls, and you're on the edge of your seat.

The twist at the end when I realized the groundskeeper and the housekeeper were their grandparents had me absolutely reeling. The way the story was built was very impressive, and the way it was shot was beautiful as well. I noticed that Jordan Peele really likes those close up shots of his actors and he uses them a bunch in his movies, so far I have only really watched Get Out and Nope, but I noticed its used a lot. Overall I rate this movie a 9/10, I really liked the storyline a lot, and this movie I would say might make my new top 10!
